As a teacher at heart, David loves when his students have that “ah ha” moment and realize that they just did something new or amazing. David strives to make his approach to teaching like a memorable book or movie, which takes you on journey. He believes learning should be a personal quest where you, the hero, overcome your obstacles to achieve something greater. As an instructor, David strives to show students “how” to get things done when they go back to work. In technical classes this includes hands-on labs where students practice with the tools they will use in the real world.

David has always been a mentor and teacher at heart, and his relationships with former colleagues and students constitute one of his biggest sources of professional pride. In my previous jobs as Program Chair, Program Director for Network Engineering, and I T security Programs. I was responsible for managing the Information Technology college. The college graduated many students in various Information Technology career path, including cybersecurity, network engineering, system management and software development. Years later, I still stay in touch with most of those former students.
They have all grown professionally and it’s amazing to see what roles they’ve taken on. It’s humbling to see so many former students really pursue the trajectory they set for themselves so many years ago.
The highlight of his work is receiving feedback from students after class; sharing that they used a technique from class at work, how something covered in the course helped them in their career, or that they are now dealing with the same scenario covered in class and therefore feel more prepared.
When he’s not teaching and mentoring students, David is listening to jazz music or watching the history channel.
David holds BA in Public Administration, political science, and Criminal Justice from Rhode Island College. M.Sc. in Cybersecurity from Virginia College and is currently a D.Sc. Student in Cybersecurity at Capitol Technology University.
